El Charritos Mexican Restaurant in Albuquerque

One of our favorite breakfast spots. Also good for lunch and dinner. Try the chicken fried steak with the green Chile.

Very nice decor, very clean. Tacos were good, Carne Adovada was great and my steak finger were tasty. Staff were very helpful and nice. We will go back.

Slow service, but delicious food. Large portions justify the cost and a clean open environment makes for a comfortable space to enjoy a meal.

Very neat and welcoming spot. They offer big portions and for inexpensive rates. I liked the food very much and the staff were super attentive and chatty. Highly recommended.

While the food here is fairly standard New Mexican cuisine, I'm giving a 4 star rating based mostly on the back of the cool art on display here. Above the cash register area hang about 20+ different crucifixes. And the whole restaurant is filled with the paintings of who I can only assume to be the work of a local artist, by the name of Robert Perea. While these paintings aren't the best work I've ever seen, it's cool to see a restaurant display the work of a local artist, and these paintings and other objects add to the ambiance of the place. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area.

We tried this restaurant for the first time. And recommend it too anybody looking for great authentic New Mexican food. Our waitress was very kind made us feel very welcomed to visit.

They're so nice when you walk in and the service is excellent us the most important part the food every part of it was excellent beans rise chili everything on the plate.

The food is amazing but went in today and was charged $1.50 for a tiny container of red chile that always came with meal. We were never told that therewould now be a charge. So a bit disappointed.

Bangin, spicy but not too spicy, stuffed full of chicken. Now we don't have to cook dinner! Very friendly waitress. I ate chicken enchiladas, green chili, rice and potatoes substituted for beans. We will be back!

The steak finger and fries are the best!! Paired with their red chili sauce and scallions. We go to El Charritos twice a month! The hamburgers are homemade and worth everything! My son and I will share a meal when we're in a tight budget, there's plenty to share or take home.

It had a great smell from outside, you can smell the great New Mexican food cooking. The parking was great you can find parking for a restaurant that is located in central. Inside is very clean. The staff members were great I was very satisfied on how the staff members were. They always check on my table. The food was amazing. Every other New Mexican restaurant I have been to had gone down hill but this one is the best. It reminds me of the original restaurant on the plaza when I was a child. The food is very flavorful. Two old codgers (77) walked in at noon on Father’s Day with back packs after a morning at the National Senior Games. One from Canada, the other from Virginia. A Mariachi group was entertaining diners, local families mostly! Service and food were fantastic. We were treated like honored guests! By the ENTIRE restaurant, staff and patrons alike! New Mexico and especially Albuquerque should be very proud to have this family operated restaurant. It seemed clear that everyone serving took pride in their jobs. Oh, did I mention that a tear came to my eye when a family paid our bill?! Happy Fathers Day!

Always consistently good food. The red chili has a little bit of a kick to it. And the coffee is excellent.

We made reservations for 8 after graduation. We were seated in a timely manner. The waitress took great care of us. She was absolutely amazing and attentive it was busy but she did a great job serving us. The food was great. You definitely got more than your monies worth. I definitely recommend El Charritos if you are ever in Albuquerque, NM.

We love this restaurant and the people who work there!!! We travel from norther New Mexico just to eat here!!! Very friendly environment and the food is always great!!! We have always made it a point to come even threw this pandemic and when they closed off some of there parking for the the bus route! We will continue to come for this amazing food!!

Several folks recommended I try the authentic New Mexican food offered on their menu. I’ve now been there twice. Vibe is casual and family friendly. The place can get busy around the lunch hour. If you are with a larger party and don’t want to wait, you should make reservation. I’m headed back there in a few minutes to try their breakfast.

Born and raised in Albuquerque, my family has been coming to El Charritos since I can remember. The many locally owned and family operated New Mexican restaurants can make for difficult decisions! Coming here is like walking into a local family’s big casa!Prices, portions, and are all on point, no matter what you order. As our waitress said, “we aren’t stingy here!” Taste-wise, the comida is wonderful! The chile has flavor and the right amount of heat. The papitas and frijoles are almost out of your abuela’s (grandma’s) kitchen. You can’t go wrong with the huevos rancheros! The chile rellenos (also pictured) are delicious, but a little too breaded for my taste, but they may be perfect for you!

Good old faithful, I have been coming to this restaurant since I was about 6 or 7 so about 30 years. I have to say this is the one place that consistently delivers on service and food quality. We always get the El Charrito Button Buster for breakfast. I highly recommend supporting El Charrito and enjoy a great meal in an inviting environment. A++++++

This place is FANTASTIC everyone needs to try the Button Buster, Steak fingers, Papas & Beans so Delicious. WONDERFUL customer service is coffee's fantastic! Just a GREAT place to go with your girlfriend's, Family and Birthday Or anytime actually. There's not one thing on the menu that's not GREAT!

I cannot express the level of unprofessionalism. I called for about 20 minutes to place an order to go. The restaurant literally never answered, I called about 20 to 30 times. I went in out of curiosity the phone is on silence and the owner has enough nerve to tell me I have the wrong number I provide her it and confirm it is the right number. Honestly if you want anything good or fast it is not here. You’re better off going to McDonald’s up the road at the least they’re professional.

Great place to dine in. Had the combo and loved it. Mum had a salad and loved it as well. Load of decent grub for a low price. Place was clean and staff were wonderful.Will come back! Love their blue corn enchiladas. A bit over the top with the religious iconography behind the register but the food is good.

Pretty good food! Different flavors. Steak was tender and juicy. Didn't care too much about tortillas. But sopapilas were amazing with honey! Keep it going 😀😀😀

Classic New Mexican restaurant that is family owned and family run for 2+ generations. Always quality good, great service and a good price. Chicken fried streak fingers are a go to. Highly recommend this place

Parking is a challenge. Small place. Clean, fast service. Food is excellent. Stuffed sorpapias are delicious. Definitely recommend this place.
